Old Chinese Criteria
1. The learning of propositional knowledge is wén 聞. 2. The learning of practical knowledge is the inchoative néng 能 "come to be able to". 3. Xué 學 is conative and means "try to learn". See STUDY. 4. Jìn 進 is to make progress in the process of learning.
