簡,用於書寫的條形竹片;竹木簡的總稱。
冊,編串起來的竹簡。
方、版、牘,皆指長方形或方形木板: “ 方 ” 以形稱, “ 版 ” 以料稱, “ 牘 ” 是通稱。
札,只能寫一兩行字的窄小木條。
牒,薄的書寫木片。
槧,未曾書寫的粗木片。
