intransitive verb following after nominal expression which modifies it.
This is a most puzzling idiomatic category which needs further study. The phenomenon is not uncommon, but structurally it still remains puzzling. Describing the surface structure as our formula does is only the first step towards a proper interpretation of this idiomatic syntactic structure. Note that the 之 can apparently be omitted but that we still have no good examples of this.
