Greek/Latin: Ubiquitous, and commonly discussed. Quintilian 9.3.96 quotes Virgil, Georg. 1.84 as a complex case of this where the afterthought is much longer than the main thought itself.

Ancient Chinese: Absent as an addition purporting to be spontaneous. Otherwise rare. Subordinate thoughts apparently tend to precede the main thought.
