Explicit passage from one subject or part of one's speech to another.
Often called METABASIS. Contrast DISCONTINUATIO which refers more specifically to the announcement by an author that his current subject has received enough attention.

Ancient Chinese: Being metalinguistic, such forms are rare. But they are not completely absent, I think. Need to be studied in detail. Seems very rare indeed, even in authors like XUN.
