COMM 27. 船上的人工推進工具,常見篙、槳、櫓三種。篙,手撐者,與筏俱生,而其稱秦以後始見。

槳,手劃者,短槳最早。

楫( j[U+00ed] ),短槳,又作槳的通稱。

櫂( zh[U+00e0]o ),吊置於船舷的長槳,常含動作意。

橈( r[U+00e0]o ), 兼指短、長槳,本是吳越方言詞,遂作口語中槳的通稱。

謗,也含動作意,是唐代及唐以前吳越一帶的方言用法。

枻( y[U+00ec] ), 多指漁舟之槳,也可泛稱小槳。槳,中古才見的吳方言口語詞。

櫓,手搖者,改進長槳,置於船舷、船尾的支鈕,作縱向劃動,既省力,又提高功效;櫓在秦以前已產生,而其稱最早見於漢代。
