動之死地，
不肯求問養生之法，
自欲割削之，
煎熬之，
憔悴之，
漉汔之。
而有道者自寶秘其所知，
無求於人，
亦安肯強行語之乎？
世人之常言，
鹹以長生若可得者，
古人之富貴者，
己當得之，
而無得之者，
是無此道也。
而不知古之富貴者，
亦如今之富貴者耳。
俱不信不求之，
而皆以目前之所欲者為急，
亦安能得之耶？
假令不能決意，
信命之可延，
仙之可得，
亦何惜於試之。
試之小效，
但使得二三百歲，
不猶愈於凡人之少夭乎？
天下之事萬端，
而道術尤難明於他事也。
