太安元年，
知季世之亂，
江南將鼎沸，
乃負笈持仙藥之撲，
將入室弟子，
東投霍山，
莫知所在。
抱朴子曰：
「凡探明珠，
不於合浦之淵，
不得驪龍之夜光也。
採美玉，
不於荊山之岫，
不得連城之尺璧也。
承師問道，
不得其人，
委去則遲遲冀於有獲，
守之則終已竟無所成，
虛費事妨功，
後雖痛悔，
亦不及已。
世閒淺近之事，
猶不可坐知，
況神仙之事乎？
雖聖雖明，
莫由自曉，
