而謂在昔無南威西施之美。
進趨尤有不達者焉，
稼穡猶有不收者焉，
商販或有不利者焉，
用兵或有無功者焉。
況乎求仙，
事之難者，
為之者何必皆成哉？
彼二君兩臣，
自可求而不得，
或始勤而卒怠，
或不遭乎明師，
又何足以定天下之無仙乎？
夫求長生，
修至道，
訣在於志，
不在於富貴也。
苟非其人，
則高位厚貨，
乃所以為重累耳。
何者？
學仙之法，
欲得恬愉澹泊，
滌除嗜欲，
內視反聽，
屍居無心，
而帝王任天下之重責，
治鞅掌之政務，
思勞於萬幾，
