其於名為道家之言，
便寫取累箱盈筐，
盡心思索其中。
是探燕巢而求鳳卵，
搜井底而捕鱔魚，
雖加至勤，
非其所有也，
不得必可施用，
無故消棄日月，
空有疲困之勞，
了無錙銖之益也。
進失當世之務，
退無長生之效，
則莫不指點之曰，
彼修道如此之勤，
而不得度世，
是天下果無不死之法也；
而不知彼之求仙，
猶臨河羡魚，
而無網罟，
非河中之無魚也。
又五千文雖出老子，
然皆泛論較略耳。
其中了不肯首尾全舉其事，
有可承按者也。
但暗誦此經，
而不得要道，
直為徒勞耳，
又況不及者乎？
