亦有心安靜默，
性惡諠譁，
以縱逸為歡，
以榮任為戚者，
帶索藍縷，
茹草操耜，
玩其三樂，
守常待終，
不營苟生，
不憚速死，
辭千金之聘，
忽卿相之貴者。
無所修為，
猶常如此，
況又加之以知神仙之道，
其亦必不肯役身於世矣，
各從其志，
不可一概而言也。 」
抱朴子曰：

蓋亦軍國之得失，
行己之臧否耳。
至於告人以長生之訣，
授之以不死之方，
非特若彼常人之善言也，
則奚徒千金而已乎？
