舉業所以覘人之學問也。
舉業而與學問科殊，
末流之失耳。
茍有所備以俟舉，
即《記》之所謂博學強識以待問也，
寧得不謂之學問歟？
余曰：
博學強識，
儒之所有事也。
以謂自立之基，
不在是矣。
學貴博而能約，
未有不博而能約者也。
以言陋儒荒俚，
學一先生之言以自封域，
不得謂專家也。
然亦未有不約而能博者也。
以言俗儒記誦漫漶，
至於無極，
妄求遍物，
而不知堯、舜之知所不能也。
博學強識，
自可以待問耳，
不知約守，
而只為待問設焉，
則無問者，
儒將無學乎？
且問者固將聞吾名而求吾實也；
