張儀者，
魏人也。
始嘗與蘇秦俱事鬼谷先生，
學術，
蘇秦自以不及張儀。
張儀已學而游說諸侯。
嘗從楚相飲，
已而楚相亡璧，
門下意張儀，
曰：
「儀貧無行，
必此盜相君之璧。
」
共執張儀，
掠笞數百，
不服，
醳之。
其妻曰：
「嘻！
子毋讀書游說，
安得此辱乎？
」
張儀謂其妻曰：
「視吾舌尚在不？
」
其妻笑曰：
「舌在也。
」
儀曰：
「足矣。
」
